A Community of Practice for the people working to keep families housed and neighborhoods whole across Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey.

The Challenge

Housing is where the region's inequities become physical. Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey face rising rents against flat incomes, an ageing housing stock that costs more to make safe than many owners can carry, eviction filings that destabilise families long before a judgment is entered, and a homeownership gap that has compounded across generations. Homelessness and housing instability are the visible edge of a much larger population living one repair bill or one rent increase from crisis.

No single organization can solve any of this. Housing outcomes are produced by the interaction of zoning, subsidy, lending, legal representation, code enforcement, and community development — and the organizations working hardest on the problem typically touch only one piece of it. They see the whole system's failures through a narrow window, and rarely get to compare notes with the people looking through the other windows.

The Housing Hub puts those windows in one room: developers, tenant advocates, legal services, community development corporations, funders, and residents working the same problem from different angles, building a shared picture of what is actually breaking and what has genuinely worked.
