Hubs are not networking groups. They are learning networks, innovation accelerators, and replication platforms.

Across Greater Philadelphia and New Jersey, community leaders and organizations are developing real solutions to persistent social challenges. Too often those solutions stay local and undocumented — disconnected from the peers, evidence, policy influence, and capital they need to reach their full potential.

The Social Innovation Hubs exist to close that gap. Organized around six of the region's most consequential issues, each Hub convenes a standing Community of Practice: a working group of the people actually doing the work, meeting on a recurring basis around a shared learning agenda. What the Hub learns does not stay in the room. It becomes published case studies, policy recommendations, and pathways to philanthropic capital.

What happens inside a Hub

Every Hub is built around a learning agenda — a set of live implementation questions the members themselves define for the year. Across recurring convenings, Hub members:

  • Surface real-world implementation challenges and the trade-offs behind them

  • Share promising practices — and the failures that are just as instructive

  • Generate practitioner-driven case studies published through the Social Innovations Journal

  • Identify opportunities for collaboration, adaptation, and replication

  • Name the policy barriers standing in the way, and the openings worth pursuing

  • Surface promising community-based organizations to philanthropic partners

From practice to impact

Each Hub connects into the wider Social Innovations ecosystem. The Social Innovations Awards identify promising innovators and bring them in. The Social Innovations Learning Hub and Journal document how implementation actually happened — the decisions, the costs, the barriers — so other organizations can adapt it. The Policy Fellowship translates what practitioners know into policy recommendations. And organizations surfaced through the Hubs gain visibility with philanthropic partners.
